Fire And Rescue Services Save The Day
Everybody has a hero. Especially children love to pick a role model and try to be just like them. They are the ideal; a goal to try and attain. Most little boys go through a period in which they are enamored with fire fighting. The job of those involved in fire and rescue services is intriguing and exciting and, above all, heroic.
Parents encourage this type of emulation. They also respect and appreciate those involved in firefighting. And for good reason! Those who work every day in fire and rescue services are life savers and property protectors and they do their work in conditions of great personal danger! How could you not look up to them?
Firefighters are trained to understand the science of fire and how best to put it out. This is the obvious job description, and the one that their title implies. However, fire fighting is not the only thing they are trained to do. There is a reason that the profession is sometimes called fire and rescue services!
An extremely important part of firefighting is also fire evacuation. Doing everything possible to remove every person from a burning building is key to the firefighter's success. Fire rescue is the means of saving the lives of those who are involved in and especially trapped in a burning structure. There are few more important jobs that this type of life saving effort.
Fire and rescue service don't only deal with fires, though. You may have noticed fire trucks on the scene of an accident of some sort. Sometimes they are there in case a fire should break out at the site, but more often they are there as part of a rescue mission. Fire fighters have the responsibility and training to rescue people in dangerous situations, such as after a car accident, or when they are trapped in some other dangerous position.
There is no question that fire fighters deserve the recognition they get. Their job requires that they have a great deal of physical strength. They need to be able to control highly pressurized water hoses, carry fire safety ladders, quickly climb stairs and many other strenuous tasks. This is no job for the weak or lazy, and it requires you to always be in top physical condition.
Beyond the physical strength there is the need to think quickly and understand problems solving methods. But far beyond this is the ability to work in extremely dangerous conditions. Fighting fires, and rescuing people who are in harm's way automatically puts these people in harm's way themselves. They do their job always taking every safety precaution possible, but still knowing that they may be required to give their lives in service. There's the definition of a true hero.
